BINTULU: The new drainage system at the Bintulu Anglican Cemetery here is now completed, resolving the recurring flash flood problem that used to occur in the area during heavy rain.
Tanjong Batu Assemblyman, Johnny Pang Leong Ming, said the project was implemented under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation and was completed ahead of schedule.
“Following repeated complaints from the cemetery committee, several site visits and studies were conducted together with the relevant departments.
“Thankfully, the project is now fully completed and will benefit the community,” he said during his site visit today.
The visit was also joined by his service centre team, representatives of the cemetery committee, and officers from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID).
Johnny also expressed his appreciation to the contractor, DID and the cemetery committee for their cooperation and commitment in ensuring the smooth implementation of the project.
He further informed that the committee had submitted two improvement proposals: the construction of a second entrance to ease access, and repair works for the existing entrance pavilion.
“We have instructed the relevant department to begin preparing cost estimates and design plans for the proposals.
“We remain committed to continuously improving public facilities for the well-being of the local community,” he added.
