KUCHING: Overwhelming fan demand has seen all 17,000 tickets for Kuching City FC’s Malaysia Cup semi-final second leg against Selangor FC snapped up, with no further allocations to be released.
Kuching City FC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Iswandi Ali Hassan, confirmed that the club will not be issuing any additional tickets for the highly anticipated clash at Stadium Negeri, Petra Jaya, on Saturday night (April 18).
According to Iswandi, the total allocation of 17,000 tickets – comprising an initial 16,000 units with an additional 1,000 added due to demand – was deemed sufficient and had already been fully sold out as of Thursday (April 16).
“Initially, we only released 16,000 tickets. Due to demand, we added another 1,000, bringing the total to 17,000, and all of them were sold out as of Thursday,” he told Sarawak Tribune.
He explained that the decision not to increase ticket numbers further was made to prevent potential congestion and ensure a more comfortable match-day experience for supporters at the venue.
Iswandi also highlighted that special consideration had been given to the free admission policy for children under 12 years old, which would already contribute to increased attendance on match day.
“We also took into account the free admission for children under 12, and based on that factor, we decided not to increase the ticket allocation,” he said.
The return leg promises a tense encounter, with both Kuching City FC and Selangor FC locked at 1-1 after the first leg played at the opponent’s ground.
With a place in the final at stake, the 8:15 pm kickoff is expected to draw a high-intensity battle as both sides push for a decisive result.
In view of the expected crowd and traffic buildup around Petra Jaya, Iswandi advised fans to plan their journey early and arrive ahead of time to avoid congestion.
“Plan your journey and, if possible, come early to the stadium to avoid being affected by traffic congestion,” he added.
