Nothing has officially unveiled the Phone (4b), its latest entry-level smartphone positioned below the Phone (4a) series.
Despite its more affordable price tag, the Phone (4b) retains many of Nothing’s signature features, including the Glyph Bar, the brand’s transparent-inspired design, and its suite of Essential AI tools.
Specs The Phone (4b) sports a 6.77-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+ support, up to 1,200 nits of outdoor brightness, and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits.
It also features a 1,000Hz instant touch sampling rate, offering improved responsiveness, particularly during gaming.
The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
A 256GB storage variant is available, although it is currently exclusive to India.
The smartphone runs Nothing OS 4.1, based on Android 16.
Nothing has committed to three years of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
Cameras For photography, the Phone (4b) features a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and electronic image stabilisation (EIS), alongside an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 119.5-degree field of view.
On the front is a 16MP punch-hole selfie camera.
The device supports 4K video recording at 30fps and introduces Dual Video Capture, allowing users to record simultaneously with the front and rear cameras.
It also comes with Nothing’s TrueLens Engine 4 featuring Ultra XDR computational photography, as well as new creative filters and presets.
Display and other features Like its siblings, the Phone (4b) includes Nothing’s signature Glyph experience although it uses a refined Glyph Bar with 45 individually controlled mini LEDs capable of reaching 3,500 nits of brightness.
By comparison, the Phone (4a) features 63 precisioncontrolled mini LEDs.
The Glyph Bar can display notifications, charging progress, recording indicators and customised alerts, allowing users to stay informed without switching on the display.
Other key features include dual stereo speakers, IP64-rated dust and water resistance, a 4,400mm² vapour chamber for improved cooling, native ChatGPT integration, Google Gemini, Circle to Search, and the Essential Key, which provides quick access to Essential Space, Essential Search, Essential Voice and Essential Apps.
Powering the Phone (4b) is a 5,200mAh battery, making it the largest battery ever fitted to a Nothing smartphone.
However, customers in India will receive an even larger 6,000mAh battery.
The device supports 33W wired fast charging, which can recharge the battery to 50 per cent in under 30 minutes.
According to Nothing, the battery is designed to retain up to 90 per cent of its original capacity after 1,200 charging cycles, thanks to its impact-resistant Safe Cell Technology.
Pricings and availability In the UK, the Nothing Phone (4b) is priced at £299 (approximately RM1,629) for the 8GB + 128GB model.
For comparison, this is £80 cheaper than the Nothing Phone (4a), which starts at £379 (approximately RM2,066) and is currently priced at RM1,999 in Malaysia.
Global open sales will begin on July 17 while Nothing has confirmed that Malaysian pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.
The Phone (4b) will be available in Black, White and Blue.
