LIMBANG: Despite facing challenges, including those during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA) has successfully completed over 70 per cent of its 161 planned development projects.
According to Regional Director, Datuk Ubaidillah Abdul Latip, this achievement demonstrates the strong commitment of all parties involved in advancing the development agenda in Northern Sarawak in line with the goals of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
“We are very proud of this achievement, but we are also aware that the task is not yet complete,” he said.
“Therefore, the completed or ongoing projects will be handed over to the relevant agencies for more effective and sustainable maintenance and operations.”
Ubaidillah said this during the NRDA subcommittee meeting held at Dewan Bunga Raya here recently.
The meeting aimed to coordinate the planning and listing of high-impact development projects in line with the strategic guidelines of the state government and the Economic Planning Unit (EPU).
Ubaidillah also informed that a total of 155 projects were identified during a mini lab session, involving an estimated total cost of RM1.9 billion.
He said the projects met key criteria such as readiness level, potential economic and social impact, the need for supporting infrastructure, and contributions to human capital and entrepreneurship development.
He also stressed that every planning effort must be based on the seven strategic thrusts of PCDS 2030, including restructuring the state’s economy, empowering digital technology, social inclusiveness, and environmental sustainability.
“The collective spirit and cooperation among all parties are crucial to ensure that every project truly benefits the people and contributes to the prosperity of Sarawak,” he concluded.
