KUCHING: As cancer remains one of the most pressing current health challenges, the establishment of the Oncology Daycare Services will help to provide specialised cancer care to the community.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said the services provide access to chemotherapy, cancer screening, consultations with oncologists, and supporting therapies, offering patients comfort and continuity of care within their own city.
“I would like to congratulate team Kuching Specialist Hospital (KcSH) KPJ for their and commitment.
“This initiative reflects the values that we in Sarawak hold dear, which are accessibility, innovation and patient-centred care.
“It also demonstrates how private healthcare can complement public services in expanding specialist capacity for the benefit of our people,” he said.
He said this in his speech, read by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng, during the launching of the daycare services in conjunction with KPJ’s Open Day here today.

Dr Sim added that the new facility will benefit every cancer patient and family, noting that for those facing cancer, having access to treatment, understanding and reassurance near home can make a world of difference.
“I believe this new oncology daycare services will bring hope, comfort and strength to many who are fighting their most difficult battles.
“As we celebrate this milestone, let us also recognise the importance of partnership. The future of healthcare depends on collaboration between government, private institution, and the community.
“By working together, we can build a healthcare system that is resilient, inclusive and responsive to the evolving needs of our people,” he added.
Dr Sim hoped the daycare services will be provided with excellence and compassion and stand as a reminder of what people can achieve when they unite for the wellbeing of the community.
