KUCHING: A total of 1,250 participants took part in the JPJ Run held at the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Complex grounds on Sunday.
The event was organised in conjunction with the ‘Ke Arah Sukan’ initiative, carrying the theme ‘Gerak Bersama, Sihat Bersama – Semarak Sukan Negara’.
The programme aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle among JPJ staff and the local community through fitness and casual recreational activities.
The programme began at 6:00 am with the flag-off ceremony for the 7-km run, officiated by Sarawak JPJ Director Norizan Jili, together with Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang.
The run brought together participants of all ages and was held in a vibrant and spirited atmosphere.
A prize-giving ceremony for the top 10 finishers in the 7-km category was later officiated by the federal Deputy Transport Minister, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah.
Adding to the occasion was the presentation of awards for the ‘45 Days Weight Loss Challenge’, that recognised participants who demonstrated the greatest discipline in achieving a healthier lifestyle.
The event culminated in a lucky draw, offering an array of attractive prizes, further enhancing the excitement and festive mood of the day.
The JPJ Run 2025 not only fostered camaraderie among department staff but also reflected JPJ Sarawak’s commitment to the ‘Sports for All’ movement, in support of building a more active, healthy and productive society.
