KUCHING: Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah departed Kuching International Airport (KIA) for Pahang this morning (Aug 22), concluding His Majesty’s three-day official visit to Sarawak.

His Majesty departed at about 10am and was seen off by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, among other dignitaries.

The visit, which began on Wednesday (Aug 20), included an official state dinner held in conjunction with His Majesty’s arrival, attended by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

On Friday, Al-Sultan Abdullah performed Friday prayers with the local community before officiating the Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Mosque in Telok Melano.

The mosque holds special significance for His Majesty, who officiated its groundbreaking ceremony on Sept 13, 2023, during his tenure as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

During the visit, His Majesty also planted a Bauhinia purpurea sapling within the mosque compound before taking a stroll along Telok Melano Beach and visiting the Kilometre 0.00 marker of the Pan Borneo Highway.

The visit provided an opportunity for His Majesty to engage with the local community and observe development in Sarawak while further strengthening ties between Pahang and Sarawak.
