KUCHING: A total of 264 individuals and 200 vehicles were inspected during an integrated crime prevention operation carried out by the district police headquarters (IPD Kuching) over the weekend.
The large-scale operation, held from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am between November 8 and 9, involved three senior officers and 38 personnel from various divisions and stations under IPD Kuching.
It covered key areas under the administration of the Gita, Tabuan Jaya and Sekama police stations.
Police issued 124 traffic summonses for various offences, while six motorcycles were seized under Section 60(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
In a separate action, the district’s Criminal Investigation Division arrested an individual and confiscated nine entertainment items under Section 5(1) of the Entertainment Ordinance 2000 for operating without a valid licence at an entertainment outlet along Jalan Song.
The operation also involved roadblocks, entertainment premises inspections, crime prevention patrols and hotspot monitoring as part of efforts to reduce criminal activities in the city.
Police said similar operations will continue from time to time to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the public.
