KUCHING: Rural water access in Sarawak set to improve following state takeover of Rural Water Supply Project implementation from the Federal government.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy call from Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at Sri Pertiwi, Petra Jaya, this afternoon.
The one-on-one meeting was held for the handover of an official note on the implementation of the Rural Water Supply Project (BALB) from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) to the Sarawak government.

Ahmad Zahid, who arrived in Kuching on Monday, is in the state for an official working visit focusing on the implementation and coordination of infrastructure development projects.
Earlier, he chaired a coordination meeting on the implementation of the BALB project with the Sarawak government to ensure the project is streamlined and better coordinated.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang, and Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
