KUCHING: A total of 38 business premises have registered with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (DTCL) to voluntarily implement Rahmah Menu in Sarawak.
DTCL Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said he was confident that the number would increase as an effort to respond to the federal government’s call to introduce food dishes with prices as low as RM5.
“I understand from the DTCL officials who are monitoring the state, as of today (yesterday Feb 18) there are 38 premises that sell and offer Rahmah Menu package prices.
“I’m sure it will grow with time, and this is the government of Madani Malaysia’s endeavour to help those in need by providing them with opportunities.
“I hope this matter will receive more response from all parties who are willing to offer this Rahmah Menu,” he said when met by the media after launching the Rahmah Menu at Mydin Petra Jaya Supermarket here yesterday.
On the same note, he said, DTCL is now also trying to expand the Rahmah Menu Campaign to rural areas including the hinterland throughout the country.
Regarding the issue where there are a few parties questioning the quantity and quality of food dishes offered by traders, Salahuddin said all the dishes provided meet the standard and quality.
“I am very confident that the traders who respond to be together in this Rahmah Menu Campaign are the ones who are responsible.
“If there are accusations that the Rahmah Menu offered is of poor quality, the public can see for themselves, for example, the menu offered at Mydin today, the quantity is large and the quality is high,” he said.
Meanwhile, Salahudin said, DTCL has also created a portal to enable the members of public to obtain location information of the premises selling Rahmah Menu nearby.
In addition, he said, traders can also register their participation by visiting https://menurahmah.kpdn.gov.my.
“Participation is voluntary and the DTCL does not set specific conditions for traders because I am confident that this Rahmah Menu was from the hearts of traders who want to help others,” he said.
He also informed that, until last February 16, a total of 512 business premises had registered with the Rahmah Menu Initiative throughout the country including in Sarawak.
