KUCHING: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society, in collaboration with SJK Chung Hua No. 5, will be organising an eWASTE Campaign this weekend to promote proper disposal of electronic waste and raise environmental awareness.
The two-day event will be held from September 20 to 21 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the school premises.
Students, parents and members of the public are encouraged to bring unwanted or broken electronic items, including old computers, mobile phones, televisions and household appliances.
The collected items will be handed over to certified e-waste recyclers to ensure they are processed safely and in an environmentally friendly manner.
According to the organisers, the campaign is part of the school’s commitment to instilling social responsibility and fostering community engagement.
Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the school’s community projects and charitable initiatives.
The public may also donate old clothing, newspapers or paper materials during the campaign.
