KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has officially opened registration for the Regatta Telaga Air 2025, which will be held from September 26 to 28.

The closing date for submissions is September 5 at 5:00 pm.

MPP said the regatta will bring together local residents and water sports enthusiasts for an exciting weekend of competition and community spirit.

“This regatta promises an atmosphere full of competitive spirit and strong community engagement. MPP encourages all local residents and regatta enthusiasts to register and participate in this sporting event, which showcases skill as well as teamwork spirit,” the council said in a statement on Friday.

Registration forms can be obtained at the MPP office in Kota Padawan, Community & Corporate Development Division (Tel: 082-615566, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) or through Mohamad Arip (Tel: 019-8780438).

To ensure smooth operations and participant safety, MPP and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Telaga Air will be working with several agencies, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Fire & Rescue Department of Malaysia Sarawak, Sarawak Enforcement & Security Unit (UKPS), Sarawak Marine Department, Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Sarawak Rivers Board (LSS), Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), RELA, and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).

MPP said the council is committed to promoting sports and local cultural activities while strengthening community spirit and encouraging a healthy lifestyle through events such as the Regatta Telaga Air.

“This initiative also aims to stimulate economic and social growth in Kampung Telaga Air and surrounding villages,” it added.

“Through continuous efforts towards excellence and inclusivity, we aspire to unite the community and celebrate local heritage.”
