ENGKILILI: The construction of a new longhouse in Remabong has received RM150,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), alongside additional allocations to support community development in the area.
Lubok Antu Member of Parliament, Roy Angau Gingkoi, said RM25,000 had also been allocated under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) special allocation to the Remabong Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), while RM8,000 was channelled to the Remabong Women’s Bureau.
He said development allocations for the Lubok Antu parliamentary constituency would be channelled in stages based on the needs and priorities of each area.
“The development allocations will be channelled in stages, taking into account the needs and priorities of each area,” he said in his speech at the ‘Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ programme at Rumah Unggan Anak Isup, Remabong, here, on Saturday (Aug. 15).
Roy also highlighted the issue of inadequate and disrupted water supply, particularly in Engkilili, which he said needed to be discussed with the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) to clarify the status and identify solutions.
He also proposed strengthening the commercial and industrial sectors in Lubok Antu to create more economic and employment opportunities for the local community.
At the same time, he called on the local youth to venture into agriculture as a means of driving the local economy and reducing the migration of young people to urban areas or outside the district.
