LUBOK ANTU: More than RM298,000 in development allocations and community assistance has been announced for residents of Nanga San and Nanga San Pandak during the ‘Ngiling Tikai Gawai Dayak’ celebration on Friday (June 19).
Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment and Batang Ai assemblyman, Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, said he had approved an additional allocation of RM50,000 to strengthen community activities and support grassroots development and welfare programmes.
Of the amount, RM30,000 was allocated to the Nanga San Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), RM10,000 to the Nanga San Women’s Bureau, and RM10,000 to the JKKK of Nanga San Pandak.
“The Sarawak Government would continue to pay attention to the development needs of Lubok Antu district, particularly in infrastructure and basic utilities, to improve the well-being of rural communities,” he said in his speech.
Touching on water supply issues, he said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)-led state government had approved RM2.3 billion for the implementation of the Sarawak Water Grid Project to strengthen the state’s water supply system.
He said the large-scale project reflected the government’s commitment to ensuring that the people would enjoy more stable and quality water supply access in the future.
Meanwhile, Lubok Antu Member of Parliament, Roy Angau Gingkoi, also announced allocations totalling RM248,000.
The amount includes RM200,000 under the 2027 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the construction of longhouse grills at Nanga San.
Additionally, he allocated RM20,000 to the JKKK of Nanga San, RM8,000 to the Nanga San Women’s Bureau, RM15,000 to the JKKK of Nanga San Pandak, and RM5,000 to the Nanga San Pandak Women’s Bureau.
“The allocations and assistance reflected the government’s continued commitment to empowering rural development and safeguarding the welfare of local communities,” Roy said.
