ULU TERU: Efforts to strengthen rural infrastructure connectivity continue to be intensified through the implementation of the Jalan Ulu Teru, Tinjar road upgrading project, which is expected to bring significant improvements to the well-being of local communities.

The RM45.2 million project reflects the Sarawak government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring inclusive and balanced development between urban centres and interior regions.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the project will benefit 31 longhouses while improving residents’ access to basic facilities such as schools and clinics.

“This project will benefit 31 longhouses and ease access to schools and clinics in the area,” he said during a press conference after officiating at the project’s groundbreaking ceremony in Tinjar recently.

He added that the 23.4km project is scheduled for completion within 24 months and is expected to serve as a catalyst for enhanced mobility and socio-economic activities among rural communities.

At the same time, he urged the contractor to ensure smooth implementation and adherence to the stipulated timeline.

Uggah also stressed that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) remains the key driver of the state’s development, particularly in delivering quality basic infrastructure to uplift living standards in rural areas.
