A total of RM7.5 billion has been set aside under the Sarawak annual development budget to implement 1,186 projects across five Regional Development Agencies (RDAs).
Second Minister of Finance and New Economy Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the projects fall under the Sri Aman Development Agency (SADA), Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA), Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA), Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), and MidRajang Regional Development Agency (MIRRDA).
“Out of the 1,186 projects, 1,169 are physical projects while 17 are non-physical projects,” he said in his ministerial winding-up speech during the DUN Sitting today (May 19).
Uggah, who is also Deputy Premier, said as of April 2026, RM395 million had been expended, with 228 projects, or 19 per cent, completed while the remaining 958 projects were at various stages of implementation.
He described the RDAs as embodying Sarawak’s vision of inclusive, rapid and sustainable development through a bottom-up approach that empowers communities to shape projects according to their needs and aspirations.
“These agencies are entrusted with the mission of bridging the urban-rural development gap and accelerating infrastructure delivery so that no community is left behind in our march towards progress,” he said.
Uggah added that the Sarawak government had allocated RM13.5 billion to all nine RDAs statewide, with each agency receiving RM1.5 billion.
Apart from the five agencies funded under the state development budget, he said another RM6 billion had been set aside under the Alternative Funding programme for projects under the Northern Regional Development Agency (NRDA), Highland Development Agency (HDA), Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA), and Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA).
“As of April 2026, RM3.48 billion has been expended under the Alternative Funding programme, with 651 projects completed,” he said.
Meanwhile, Uggah said the Sarawak government remained committed to ensuring development initiatives under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 continue to benefit communities across the state, particularly in rural and remote areas.
He stressed that the implementation of projects through the RDAs would continue to focus on improving infrastructure connectivity, public facilities, and economic opportunities for the rakyat.
