SERIAN: A 26-year-old man was killed in an accident involving a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at Bukit Sabal along Jalan Pan Borneo connecting Sri Aman and Serian early this morning.

The victim, identified as Phil Mckenze Demas, was found trapped in the driver’s seat when rescuers arrived at the scene.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call at 4.26am, prompting the deployment of personnel from the Simunjan fire station, with assistance from the Serian station.

The team arrived at the location at 5.04am.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that the accident involved a single vehicle.

The operation team used a set of special rescue equipment to extricate the victim from the wreckage.

However, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The situation was brought under control at 5.07am, and firefighters subsequently carried out clearing works to remove debris from the road.

The operation ended at 7am.
