KUCHING: Sabah Parks was crowned the overall champion of the inaugural Malaysia Conservation Agencies Games (SAKOM) 2026.
The contingent topped the overall standings at the end of the tournament, which concluded last night (July 17) and brought together personnel from the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN), Sabah Wildlife Department, Sabah Parks and Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC).
SFC general manager, Controller of National Parks and Nature Reserves and Wildlife Controller Abang Arabi Abang Aimran said the inaugural games had successfully fostered friendship, understanding and solidarity among conservation agencies while reinforcing their shared responsibility to protect Malaysia’s natural heritage.

“The tournament brought together personnel from conservation agencies across Malaysia, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in protecting the country’s natural heritage.
“While all of you have competed on the field, you will return home as partners united by a common responsibility to safeguard Malaysia’s biodiversity,” he said during the closing ceremony of SAKOM 2026 at Jubilee Ground, Kuching South City Council (MBKS), last night.
Abang Arabi also expressed his appreciation to all participating agencies for their commitment, discipline and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
He expressed hope that the relationships forged during the games would continue to grow through joint operations, research, knowledge-sharing and future conservation initiatives.
“I am confident that future editions of the games will continue to grow into an important platform for strengthening strategic partnerships among Malaysia’s conservation agencies while advancing our shared mission of preserving the nation’s rich biodiversity,” he said.
The next edition of SAKOM will be jointly hosted by the Sabah Wildlife Department and Sabah Parks in 2029.
