Samsung Malaysia has introduced the new Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch 9, alongside its latest foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8.

For its newest smartwatches, Samsung has replaced its Exynos wearable chip with Qualcomm’s latest 3nm Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform, promising improved CPU and GPU performance, as well as better GPS accuracy compared to previous models.

Both wearables also feature brighter displays, enhanced performance and a new range of AI-powered health features.

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2: Built for adventure

Designed for outdoor activities and endurance sports, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is Samsung’s most advanced smartwatch yet.

It runs on the Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform, paired with 2GB RAM and 64GB of storage.

The smartwatch features a slightly larger 1.52-inch Super AMOLED Always-On Display with a 498×498 resolution, protected by Sapphire Crystal.

With a peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, Samsung claims it is the brightest smartwatch display available, offering better visibility under direct sunlight.

A major upgrade is the larger 800mAh battery, which is 35% bigger than the previous Galaxy Watch Ultra battery.

Despite this, Samsung has made the device thinner and more comfortable, with a 10.7mm Titanium Shock Resistant case and a lighter 1.9mm-thin band.

Built for harsh environments, the Watch Ultra 2 comes with 10ATM+, IP69K, MIL-STD-810H and EN13319 certifications. It supports LTE, Bluetooth 6.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC and dualfrequency L1+L5 GPS.

The smartwatch also introduces professional-level sports features, including Trail Run, which provides elevation and terrain data for runners, and Nutrition Alert, which estimates sweat loss and recommends hydration during supported activities.

For diving enthusiasts, the Watch Ultra 2 can automatically detect dives and record details such as depth, dive duration and water temperature.

Samsung is also working with Mares to develop a dedicated dive computer app for the Wear OS platform.

Like the Galaxy Watch 9, the Ultra 2 includes Samsung’s latest AI-powered health features, such as Vitals, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, Fitness Index and Hearing, offering personalised insights through continuous biometric monitoring.

Galaxy Watch 9: Everyday smartwatch upgraded

The Galaxy Watch 9 is designed as Samsung’s everyday smartwatch, featuring an aluminium case and available in 40mm and 44mm sizes. It is powered by the same Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform with 2GB RAM, but comes with 32GB of storage.

The 44mm model features a 1.47- inch Super AMOLED display, while the 40mm version comes with a 1.34-inch display. Both models support Always-On Display, offer up to 3,000 nits brightness and are protected by Sapphire Crystal for improved scratch resistance.

Battery capacity is rated at 445mAh for the 44mm model and 390mAh for the 40mm version, with support for WPCbased fast wireless charging.

Samsung has redesigned the Watch 9 for a closer and more comfortable fit, with new soft-touch bands designed for all-day wear.

It also includes the same AIpowered health features as the Ultra 2, alongside 5ATM+ and IP68 dust and water resistance and MIL-STD-810H certification.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, NFC and L1+L5 dualfrequency GPS.

Both smartwatches run Wear OS 7 with One UI 9 Watch and are compatible with Android smartphones running Android 13 or later with at least 1.5GB RAM.
