PUTRAJAYA: Sarawak is committed to balanced and sustainable land administration as Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan attended the 82nd National Land Council (MTN) meeting at the Prime Minister’s Department today.
Awang Tengah, who is also the Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, represented Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He was accompanied by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Datuk Abdullah Julaihi, and Sarawak Land and Survey Department Director, Datuk Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood.
The council meeting discussed five papers and received three for information, focusing on national priorities such as proposed amendments to the Land Acquisition Act 1960, strengthening land acquisition governance, the 2022 National Forest Cover Report, Malaysia’s forest cover commitment, and the National Landscape Policy.
Also present were state leaders including Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Utama Abdul Rauf Yusoh, and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Utama Aminuddin Harun.
The MTN remains the country’s highest platform for coordinating land-related policies, ensuring federal-state alignment in land management, natural resources and development planning.
Federal Cabinet members attending included Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Economy Minister Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, and Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
