KUCHING: The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak continues to strengthen project governance through the implementation of the One Month Pledge initiative to improve project delivery and reduce delays.

Sarawak JKR said that the initiative is aimed at ensuring contractors demonstrate early commitment towards achieving project targets within the first month of implementation while enhancing overall project governance.

It will closely monitor the implementation of the pledges signed by contractors to ensure that each project is carried out according to the established plans.

“The implementation of the One Month Pledge reflects Sarawak JKR’s ongoing commitment to improving project delivery efficiency, reducing the risk of delays, and ensuring that development benefits can be enjoyed by the people of Sarawak.”

Sarawak JKR said this in a Facebook post on Tuesday (June 23) following the One Month Pledge Signing Session No. 7/2026 held at the Directorate Meeting Room, Level 19, Wisma Saberkas.

Among the projects involved in the session were the completion of remaining works for the reconstruction and upgrading of dilapidated School Package 6 at SK Kampung Penibong in Daro, Mukah, and the construction of an additional building at SMK Sungai Maong, Padawan.

The session also covered the reconstruction of dilapidated buildings at SMK Matang Hilir, Padawan, and SK Bukit Kinyau, Sarikei under the Sarawak Dilapidated Schools (2023) programme.

Other projects included the construction of a KEMAS kindergarten at Kampung Sungai Tapang, Stampin, as well as the retendered construction of new land border security control posts by the Sarawak Brigade of the General Operations Force (PGA) at Sapit, Padawan and Tepoi, Serian.
