KUCHING: The Sarawak Police Contingent remains committed to strengthening professionalism, discipline and psychological resilience among its personnel in facing increasingly complex security challenges.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief ACP Lim San Aik said the evolving security environment requires police personnel to possess higher professional capabilities, strong discipline and sound judgement in carrying out their duties.
He said the force must remain calm, resolute and effective in executing its responsibilities in accordance with the law despite facing various challenges.
“The duty of the police is an important pillar in maintaining national stability and social peace.
“No matter how circumstances change, this responsibility remains unchanged,” he said during the Buddhist religious prayer ceremony in conjunction with the 219th Police Day at the Kuching Buddhist Association (KBS) here, this morning.
Lim said police personnel also face prolonged pressure and risks in their line of duty, which can affect both their physical and mental wellbeing.
As such, he said the ceremony was not merely a religious activity, but also served as a platform to strengthen inner resilience and mental stability among officers.
“Through this solemn ceremony, we allow our minds and bodies to settle.
“Amid busyness and pressure, we rebuild a stable and clear state of mind,” he said.
He added that maintaining public security is not solely the responsibility of the police force, but also requires cooperation and understanding from all levels of society.
During the ceremony, prayers were also offered for national stability, social harmony, public safety and the wellbeing of police officers carrying out their duties.
Lim also expressed appreciation to the Kuching Buddhist Association for its support and cooperation in ensuring the smooth organisation of the ceremony.
