KOTA SAMARAHAN: The construction of the Sarawak Science Centre has now reached about 80 per cent completion, with a pre-launch expected to take place by the middle of next year.
Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the project’s progress is going very well and is ahead of schedule.
“Therefore, we hope to hold a pre-launch by the middle of next year.”
Sagah told reporters when met after officiating at the Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre and Sarawak Science Centre Open Day at the Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute, here today.
Elaborating further, he said that although the physical construction of the building could be completed earlier, additional time is needed to procure the exhibition materials.
“The physical structure of the building can be completed earlier, but we need to obtain all the exhibition materials first as most of them are imported from abroad.”
The Sarawak Science Centre is being developed on a 10.8-acre site located near the Sarawak Energy Berhad headquarters building at Jalan Stadium, Petra Jaya, here.
Sagah had previously said that the development of the centre, which is expected to be fully completed by the end of this year, is supported by an allocation of RM135 million under the Sarawak Budget 2025 announced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
