KUCHING: The Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund (SWFF) has increased to RM8.6 billion following an additional RM600 million injection from its initial RM8 billion seed fund.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the growth reflects the state’s strengthening financial position and long-term planning.
“The fund has now increased to RM8.6 billion. This is for the future,” he said in his welcoming address at the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Convention 2026 held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching here today (April 19).
The Sarawak SWFF was established under the Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund Board Ordinance, 2022 as a key initiative by the Sarawak Government.
Operations of the fund began in 2024, with the objective of transforming the state’s non-renewable resources into sustainable financial assets.
The move reflects Sarawak’s long-term vision to preserve and grow its wealth for future generations while ensuring enduring financial security for the state.
