KUCHING: Sarawak Under-21 capped a dominant run to win the Warrior Old Boys Rugby Club (WORC) 10s 2026 title, going through the tournament unbeaten without conceding a single point last weekend.
Head coach Er Embran L Mohammad Ali said the biggest satisfaction was not just the result, but the way the team executed their game plan throughout the competition.
“From a coaching point of view, the biggest satisfaction wasn’t just the result, but how the team got it done.
“Winning with a clean sheet in a tournament setting is not luck. It shows discipline, communication and trust in the system,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted recently.
He said defensive structure played a key role, with players maintaining shape and composure even under pressure.
“The boys stayed connected and kept their structure even under pressure.
“They showed consistency in chasing, supporting and covering each other. That reflects fitness being on track, but more importantly the willingness to work hard for one another”, he added.
He said improved decision-making and composure helped the team control matches and execute key moments effectively, with team-trust played into the factor.
“They didn’t try to force things unnecessarily. They played simple when needed and executed key moments well.
“You could see the trust between teammates and in the leaders guiding the group. That connection is what turns a good team into a winning one”, he added.
Sarawak recorded wins over Blasta RC, Iskandar Troopers, WORC Z and Bau Lakers RC in the group stage before defeating Jackal RC in the quarter-finals and KRFC in the semi-finals.
They sealed the title with a 22-0 victory over hosts WORC X in the final at UNIMAS on Sunday.
