NEW YORK: Twelve-year-old Sarawak vocalist Taylor Louise has once again placed Sarawak and Malaysia on the global stage after winning First Prize and the Excellent Young Talent Special Prize at the 2026 New York International Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition.
Taylor emerged champion in the Age 10–12 Vocal Category before performing at the renowned Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York, on July 11 alongside gifted young musicians from around the world.
“I am deeply honoured and grateful to represent Sarawak and Malaysia in New York. Standing on the stage of Carnegie Hall was a dream come true, and I thank God for guiding me every step of the way,” Taylor said in a press statement on Monday (July 13).
She said the achievement marked a significant milestone in her musical journey and strengthened her determination to continue representing Sarawak and Malaysia with dedication, passion and gratitude on international stages.
Taylor also expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and its minister, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, for their invaluable support in making the journey possible.
She also thanked her vocal coach, Sabrina Tnay, for her unwavering dedication and guidance in preparing her for the prestigious international competition and memorable performance at Carnegie Hall.
Taylor extended her gratitude to her parents, family members and everyone who had believed in and supported her throughout her musical journey, describing their encouragement as the foundation of her success.
Despite being only 12 years old, Taylor has already amassed an impressive list of international achievements through prestigious music competitions held across the United States, Europe and Asia.
Her accolades include becoming a WCOPA Gold Medalist and Division Champion, receiving a Special Mention at the Sanremo Junior World Finals in Italy, and emerging Double Champion at the Asia Students Arts Festival.
Taylor also won First Prize at the Nouvelles Étoiles International Music Competition in France and received First Prize together with the Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize at the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition in Paris.
Returning home, Taylor hopes her journey will inspire young Malaysians to pursue their dreams with courage, perseverance and faith, believing that dreams become reality through determination and trust in God’s timing.
