SARIKEI: Sarikei Division is stepping up efforts to strengthen innovation and digital capabilities in the public sector through a structured programme aimed at improving service delivery and operational efficiency.

The Sarikei Innovation Leap 2026 programme, held from Apr 6 to 10, brought together officers from Sarikei, Julau, Pakan and Meradong to tackle real operational challenges while developing practical and scalable solutions.

The initiative is designed to enhance problem-solving capabilities, accelerate digital adoption and boost internal productivity across government agencies.

Officiating at the closing session, Sarikei Resident Michael Ronnie Langgong said innovation and digitalisation are key to strengthening public service delivery.

“Innovation and digitalisation are essential in improving internal processes and delivering better outcomes for the people,” he said.

The programme adopted a hands-on approach, guiding participants through a structured process — from identifying issues to developing and testing workable solutions within a shorter timeframe.

Participants were encouraged to examine root causes, apply critical thinking and validate ideas, enabling more informed decision-making and efficient use of resources.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Sarikei Resident’s Office and the Sarikei Innovation Centre (SIC) to embed innovation as a core capability within the Sarawak civil service.

It also reflects ongoing efforts to build a more agile and innovation-ready public sector, while enhancing both internal operations and public-facing service delivery.

Implemented in collaboration with SIC and managed by iCube Innovation, the programme underscores a growing emphasis on innovation-driven governance.

Michael Ronnie also urged departments and agencies across the division to sustain the momentum and continue fostering a culture of innovation.

“We must continue to cultivate innovation within the public service and translate it into stronger organisational performance and greater impact for the people,” he added.
