TANJUNG MANIS: Firefighters spent about seven hours battling a landfill fire at Kampung Jerijih here today (Apr 14), which destroyed about 0.8 hectares of waste.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the blaze involved piles of rubbish at the disposal site, covering an estimated area of about two acres.
Firefighters from the Tanjung Manis station brought the fire under control at 11.30 am and fully extinguished it by 4.32 pm.
Extinguishing works were carried out using a water pump and hose lines, with water sourced from a nearby pond.
A fire break was also created to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjacent waste piles.
No injuries were reported.
