KUCHING: Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) has denied issuing any approval, endorsement, or involvement in a poster currently circulating on social media promoting a so-called ‘Pertandingan Menangkap Buaya 2026’.

In a statement posted at SFC Facebook, the corporation clarified that it has no connection to the purported event and stressed that any activities involving wildlife – especially protected species such as crocodiles – are strictly regulated under the Wildlife Protection Ordinance 1998.

The corporation warned that capturing, handling, or harming wildlife without proper authorisation is an offence and may lead to legal action.

SFC also urged the public to remain cautious, refrain from spreading unverified information, and avoid participating in activities promoted through unofficial channels.

Reaffirming its commitment to wildlife conservation and public safety, SFC advised the public to rely only on its verified platforms for accurate information and not be misled by rumours circulating online.
