SIBU: About 120 single mothers and those from the less privileged families received Chinese New Year’s contribution from United People’s Party (UPP) Dudong branch Women Section here yesterday.
They received rice, Mandarin oranges and ang pau from UPP Dudong branch Women Section chairperson Kapitan Connie Loh.
“As the chairperson, I feel that single mothers, having to care and raise their children single-handedly deserve our help and care the most,” said Loh.
According to her, they have set up an “I-care” fund in 2015 with the sole purpose of helping single mothers in Dudong area.
She added that more than 100 single mothers are the beneficiary of the fund.
“Though we can only do that much, they however have found solace in us when they need our help,” she said.
