SMK Chung Hua Miri shines at World Robot Olympiad

KUCHING: Education director-general Azman Adnan commended SMK Chung Hua Miri for its outstanding performance at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) International Final 2024 in Izmir, Turkey.

“This success proves that Malaysia has extraordinary talent in the field of robotics and technological innovation,” he said when welcoming the return of the delegation.

SMK Chung Hua Miri bagged one gold, one silver, one bronze and one Excellence Award, making the school a key contributor to Malaysia’s overall victory in this year’s competition.

The Robomission Junior team emerged as champion while the Robomission Senior team secured the runner-up position. The Robosport team placed third.

Meanwhile, the Future Innovators team finished in fourth place and brought home the Excellence Award.

As the overall champion, Malaysia achieved two gold medals, three silver, one bronze and three Excellence Awards across eight categories in the competition.

The WRO International Final 2024, held from Nov 28 to 30, featured the theme ‘Earth Allies,’ with 3,116 participants from 87 countries challenged to develop robotic innovations aimed at protecting the environment.
