SIBU: Quick action by firefighters averted a potentially larger blaze at a workshop along Jalan Sungai Teku, Kampung Bahagia, here on Saturday night.
The fire, which broke out at around 10:25 pm, involved stacks of house construction materials, including plywood, but fortunately did not spread to the building structure.

Firefighters from Sungai Merah station were dispatched to the scene, about seven kilometres away, following a distress call.
No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
The team managed to bring the flames under control by 11:37 pm using water from a nearby fire hydrant.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation about 20 minutes later.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
