BINTULU: “SPM is not merely about grades and results, but a journey of self-discovery and character-building,” emphasised Captain Daniel Lim, Officer of the Salvation Army Bintulu Corps, during a motivational sharing session with students preparing for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
He stressed that the examination should not be viewed as the final destination, but rather the beginning of a much broader life journey.
In his talk titled ‘S.P.M – Strength, Perseverance and Mindset’, Lim highlighted three core values that students should embrace not only during the exam period but throughout life’s many challenges.
“Strength is the ability to stand firm even when tested.
“Perseverance is the courage to keep going without giving up, and a positive mindset is what will shape one’s direction in life,” he explained.
He added that regardless of the results obtained, they do not define a person’s worth.
More importantly, he said, is the ability to rise after failure, learn from experience, and keep moving forward with unwavering spirit.
Lim also urged students to continue believing in themselves and to seize every opportunity to build a brighter future.
“Every student has the potential to achieve greatness.
“What matters most is attitude, determination and the belief that they can change their own destiny,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to the teachers, parents and community members who continue to provide moral and spiritual support to students during this significant phase of their lives.
