KUCHING: A charity jogathon organised by secondary school students has raised RM20,000 to support critically ill children receiving treatment at Sarawak General Hospital.

The Society for Critically Sick Children (S.O.S. Kids Kuching) president Constance Leong said the funds raised through the Miracle Mile Jogathon 2026 would provide much-needed assistance to families facing life-threatening medical situations.

“The RM20,000 raised will go a long way in helping us support critically ill children and their families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives,” she said in a statement yesterday (July 11).

The jogathon, held yesterday, was organised by the Interact Club of Lodge National Secondary School in collaboration with S.O.S. Kids Kuching and JVY Event Management Company.

According to S.O.S. Kids Kuching, more than 450 runners took part in the 3km and 5km categories, which were flagged off from the school grounds.

The organisation provides financial assistance to children receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of Sarawak General Hospital, particularly in cases not covered by other charitable organisations.

Organising chairman Micah Ng, a Form Five student, said the turnout exceeded expectations.

“Seeing more than 450 runners participate and collectively raise RM20,000 for S.O.S. Kids are beyond what we had hoped for,” he said.

He added that the achievement belonged to every volunteer, sponsor, teacher, parent and participant who contributed to the event’s success.
