KUCHING: Tamida Da’adi has been sworn in for a new term as chairman of the Gedong District Council, with Japar Mustapha also taking the oath of office as Deputy Chairman.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at Raia Hotel & Convention Centre Kuching today, also saw 29 other councillors taking their oath of office.
The appointments are effective from April 1, 2025 until March 31, 2028.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also the Gedong assemblyman, attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
The ceremony began with Tamida leading the oath-taking, followed by his deputy and the newly appointed councilors.
The session concluded with the Gedong District Council members pledging to uphold integrity and remain corruption-free.
The establishment and strengthening of the Gedong District Council is seen as a reflection of the state government’s continued commitment to promoting balanced, inclusive, and sustainable development, particularly in rural areas.
