KUCHING: Sarawakian vocalist Taylor Louise will represent Malaysia at the New York International Golden Classical Music Awards 2026 and perform at the prestigious Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, in New York on July 11.

The 12-year-old singer will be the sole Malaysian representative at the event, which will bring together outstanding young musicians and performers from countries including the United States, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Brazil, India, China, Ukraine, France, Canada, Australia and several others.

Her participation is made possible through the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak as part of efforts to nurture young talent and promote Sarawakian achievements on the international stage.

Taylor recently paid a courtesy call on Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who congratulated her on the achievement and wished her success ahead of the competition.

The young vocalist has gained international recognition through several music competitions, including receiving the Exceptional Young Talent Award in Paris, France, in December last year.

Her upcoming appearance at Carnegie Hall marks another milestone in her musical career and places her among the youngest Sarawakian vocalists to perform at the world-renowned venue.

Known for its rich musical heritage and exceptional acoustics, Carnegie Hall has hosted generations of distinguished musicians since its opening in 1891.

Taylor said it was an honour to represent both Sarawak and Malaysia at one of the world’s most prestigious performance venues.

“As a young singer from Sarawak, it is a great honour to represent both Sarawak and Malaysia on one of the world’s most prestigious stages.

“I am deeply grateful to MTCP Sarawak and everyone who has supported me on this journey. I will continue to work hard and give my very best,” she said.

She also expressed her appreciation to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian for their encouragement, as well as her parents, vocal coach Sabrina Tnay and members of the media who have supported her musical journey.

Taylor is scheduled to depart for New York on July 6 for rehearsals, award events and preparations ahead of her performance at Carnegie Hall.
