ASAJAYA: A teenager suffered injuries while escaping an evening blaze that razed a wooden house in Kampung Serpan Laut yesterday (Sept 9).
The 16-year-old boy sprained his right hand when he collided with a wardrobe during the 4pm incident. He was promptly taken to the Asajaya health clinic for medical attention.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Asajaya station were despatched to the scene after being alerted of the fire.
On arrival, they found that the double-storey house was beyond saving and the extinguishing deed was performed.
In addition, the flames also caused minor damages to another house.
The burned house was inhabited by four tenants including the teenager. The other three managed to get out to safety and no injuries were reported among them.
After ensuring that the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 5.40pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
