KUCHING: Two temples in Kota Sentosa received a boost today (Dec 29) with RM10,000 Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants each.
The funds, presented by Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, will support welfare and religious activities at San Sam Kuet Bong Temple in 7th Mile and Chin Kiung Thai Ti Temple in Semaba.
During the presentation ceremony, Yap urged devotees to reject the racial and religious rhetoric often propagated by Malaya-based political parties.
“Such rhetoric conflicts with the inclusive and multicultural values upheld by the Sarawak GPS government,” Yap said.
“It threatens the unity and diversity that have been the bedrock of our society for generations.”

Unlike the divisive narratives seen elsewhere, Sarawak embraces its diversity as a source of strength, said Yap.
“We must continue to build on this foundation to forge a brighter future under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he added.
Yap also praised the establishment of the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) by the GPS government.
“UNIFOR has been instrumental in providing financial assistance to build temples and support the needs of non-Muslims throughout Sarawak,” he said.
