BINTULU: Three motorcycles were seized during a Road Transport Department (RTD) enforcement operation here after officers uncovered various traffic offences last night (July 20).

The operation, dubbed ‘Ops Motosikal’, ‘Ops HID/LED’ and ‘Ops Pemandu Warga Asing (PEWA)’, was carried out by Bintulu RTD branch, led by its chief Fedrick Kedo and 20 enforcement officers, along Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi.

RTD also seized two motorcycles after their road tax and insurance coverage had expired.

Another motorcycle was confiscated after it was found to be ridden by a foreign national who did not possess a valid driving licence, bringing the total number of vehicles seized to three.

Throughout the operation, a total of 350 vehicles of various types were inspected. Among the offences detected were driving without a valid licence, HID/LED lights that did not comply with approved specifications, expired driving licences, and other technical violations.

The department said enforcement action was taken against all offenders and the seized vehicles in accordance with existing laws.

Such enforcement operations will continue to be intensified across Sarawak to ensure road users comply with traffic regulations.

Motorists were also reminded to ensure their driving licences, road tax, insurance coverage and vehicle specifications are valid and comply with regulations before using public roads to help safeguard the safety of all road users.
