KUCHING: The Sarawak Initiatives (TSI) has unveiled a major platform for dialogue on critical issues impacting the future of Sarawak, with a particular focus on its economic landscape.
Through the ‘Dare to Dream for a Better and Progressive Sarawak’ initiative, TSI will host a pivotal forum entitled ‘The Future of Sarawak Economy’.
Scheduled for Saturday, September 27 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak’s auditorium in Kuching, the forum will bring together key stakeholders across political, social and economic sectors to engage in open discussions on pressing matters affecting the state’s future.
The event aims to provide a platform for candid conversations about Sarawak’s oil and gas economy, the transition from GST to SST, and the implementation of e-invoicing.
Speaking on the significance of the forum, the Chairman of TSI, Datuk John Tenewi Nuek, emphasised the importance of collaboration in shaping Sarawak’s progress.
“At TSI, we believe that true progress can only be achieved through constructive dialogue and a shared commitment to the greater good of the people.” he said.
This quote highlights the forum’s objective of fostering cooperation and transparency among all parties, with a unified vision for Sarawak’s sustainable future.
In addition to the economic topics, discussions will also cover the Malaysian Agreement 1963 (MA63), the roles of PETROS and PETRONAS, governance structures, and sustainable development.
Participants will explore ways to align Sarawak’s ambitions with national priorities, ensuring the state’s long-term economic growth.
At the forum’s conclusion, TSI will compile resolutions raised during discussions and present them to the government, ensuring that the collective voice of Sarawak’s people is heard.
“While politicians may have their agendas, it is crucial that we all remain focused on the long-term well-being of our nation,” he added.
The forum seeks to create a path forward that prioritises Sarawak’s progress above all.
