MIRI: Two cars were gutted and flames spread to adjacent houses in an early morning fire at a residential area here today (Apr 26).
The incident occurred at about 2.29 am at Pineville 3, South Lake, according to the Fire and Rescue Department.
Firefighters from Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched immediately after receiving the distress call.
Emergency sirens were activated within seconds, and a fire engine left the station at 2,30 am, arriving at the scene shortly after.
Upon arrival, two vehicles parked in front of a permanent residential property were already ablaze. The fire had begun to spread, affecting two neighbouring houses.
Fire crews initiated suppression efforts using a primary attack line alongside a secondary hose connected to the engine’s pump supply.
The blaze was brought under control within approximately 15 minutes, at 2.45 am, before being fully extinguished.
No casualties were reported.
A total of seven firefighters were involved in the operations, supported by police personnel and staff from the electricity utility provider.
The operations concluded at 3.22 am, with crews returning to the station shortly afterwards.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage to the affected homes are under investigation.
