BAU: Two infrastructure projects worth a combined RM4.6 million have been completed in the Singai area, improving water supply and road connectivity for local communities.
The projects comprise the RM3 million upgrading of the booster pump station at Kampung Apar Singai and a RM1.6 million agricultural and village road upgrading project at Kampung Bobak Sajong.
Deputy Transport Minister (Riverine and Maritime) Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, who is also Tasik Biru assemblyman, witnessed the handover of both completed projects on Wednesday (Aug 26).
Henry said the upgraded Kampung Apar booster pump station is now capable of supplying up to 100,000 gallons of water daily to residents of Kampung Tabong, Kampung Apar, Kampung Barieng and Kampung Segong.
“The implementation of this project is aimed at comprehensively addressing water supply issues in the affected villages, particularly homes that frequently experience low water pressure and supply disruptions,” he said during the project handover ceremony at the station as reported by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).
The upgrading project was implemented by the state government through the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) programme.
Its scope included upgrading the existing pumps to provide higher pressure as well as constructing a dedicated pipeline to improve the capacity of the water supply system serving the affected areas.
Meanwhile, the approximately two-kilometre agricultural and village road upgrading project at Kampung Bobak Sajong has also been fully completed.
The RM1.6-million GKCDA project, implemented by the Bau District Public Works Department (PWD), began on Oct 20, 2025, and was completed on June 19 this year.
Works involved road widening, utility relocation, drainage and the installation of road accessories aimed at improving accessibility and safety for users.
