BINTULU: A Mazda CX-5 was completely destroyed after it caught fire along Jalan Samalaju towards Simpang Bakun late Wednesday (Aug 26) night.
The incident was reported to the Samalaju Fire and Rescue Station at 11.31pm. A team of five firefighters who arrived at the scene at 11.50pm found the vehicle engulfed in flames.
They immediately deployed a hose reel from the fire engine and brought the blaze under control at 12.27am. The operation was officially concluded two minutes later.
No casualties or injuries were reported. The vehicle’s 62-year-old owner, Wong Eng Ming, was also reported to be safe.
Firefighters carried out a final inspection of the vehicle and surrounding area to ensure the scene was safe and there was no risk of the fire reigniting before returning to the station.
The police (PDRM) also assisted at the scene.
