BAU: Two motorcyclists featured in a viral video performing dangerous “Superman” stunts have surrendered themselves to police, after their companion was earlier traced and arrested.
Bau police said the riders turned themselves in at the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division yesterday (Sept 2), following efforts to identify all three motorcyclists captured in the 40-second video.
“The two riders surrendered themselves at the traffic police office.
“The first rider had been traced and arrested earlier after the video, which showed the trio allegedly performing dangerous manoeuvres along Jalan Bau-Batu Kawa, came to police attention,” police said.
Among the stunts captured was the so-called “Superman” — with a rider lying face-down on a moving motorcycle and stretching both legs backwards,
The footage also showed the riders crouching low over their motorcycles while travelling along the public road.
Police said all three riders were arrested and released on police bail to assist with investigations.
Further checks found that two of them did not possess valid driving licences, and summonses were issued against them.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
Police warned that public roads were not meant for racing or stunts, stressing that acts which may appear impressive for a few seconds could have serious consequences.
A dangerous manoeuvre could endanger not only the rider but also other road users.
