MIRI: A 21-year-old man was injured after a Perodua Axia crashed into a lamp post outside Boulevard Shopping Mall along Jalan Miri-Pujut early today.
The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said members of the public had rescued the man from the vehicle before firefighters arrived at the scene at about 2.37am, just four minutes after the emergency call was received.
Firefighters subsequently transported the injured man to Miri Hospital for further treatment and cleared an oil spill from the road.
The operation, which involved Miri Central Fire and Rescue Station, police traffic personnel and Sarawak Energy workers, ended at 3.30am after the area was deemed safe.
