KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi received a courtesy visit from a delegation of historians, scholars and researchers at their official residence at Kasuma Resort, Petra Jaya, here today.
The delegation included Amanah Khairat Yayasan Budaya Melayu Sarawak general manager Datuk Dr Sanib Said, Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS) vice-chancellor Associate Professor Dr Firdaus Abdullah, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak senior lecturer Ustaz Wan Ariffin Wan Yon, and historian and author on the Banting Kingdom Azuan Jemat, along with their spouses.
The meeting focused on efforts to strengthen the documentation and preservation of Sarawak’s historical and literary heritage, including discussions on the publication and revision of historical works on Banting and Lingga, believed to have been authored by Temenggong Abang Zen Lingga.
During the meeting, Wan Junaidi also requested Dr Firdaus to assist in translating his work titled “Evolusi Parlimen dan Evolusi Speaker Parlimen Malaysia” into English to expand its international reach.
In addition, he also received a copy of a Jawi manuscript related to Banting, presented by Dr Sanib as a symbolic gesture during the visit.
Wan Junaidi and Fauziah expressed their hope that the initiatives discussed would be successfully implemented, contributing to ongoing efforts to preserve and elevate Sarawak’s historical legacy for future generations.
