KUCHING: Ukraine is seeking to strengthen cooperation with Sarawak in strategic sectors, including food security, energy, digital technology, and infrastructure development.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Hennadii Nadolenko said Sarawak’s strengths in infrastructure development, economic growth, and technology presented opportunities for long-term collaboration with Ukraine.
“We exchanged views on several very interesting ideas regarding potential cooperation between Ukraine and Sarawak, including opportunities involving the Ukrainian business community.
“For me, the most important relationship between countries is the relationship between their people.
“People-to-people ties and business connections are very important, and we truly hope to continue developing those networks,” he said after paying a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at Astana Negeri Sarawak here yesterday (Jul 7).
Dr Hennadii said Ukraine was also interested in the expertise of Malaysian companies, particularly those in Sarawak, in road, bridge, and infrastructure construction as part of the country’s rebuilding efforts.
He added that the meeting was held in a positive atmosphere, with both sides agreeing to maintain communication and explore more opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between Sarawak and Ukraine.
