SIBU: A man who recently went viral for walking naked around the town is currently undergoing treatment at the Psychiatric Ward of Sibu Hospital.
Sibu District Police Chief, ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, said police investigations revealed that the man had been admitted to the hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment.
“Police have also obtained confirmation from Sibu Hospital regarding the man’s admission and will obtain a medical report and psychiatric assessment to assist in the investigation,” he said in a statement today.
He added that police would open an investigation paper after consulting and obtaining legal advice on the matter.
“In this regard, members of the public are advised not to speculate or indiscriminately share materials related to the incident, as doing so could cause public concern and affect the sensitivities of the individual’s family,” he said.
He also reminded the public to exercise caution when using social media, noting that the dissemination of unlawful content may result in action being taken under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588), where applicable.
