ASAJAYA: Residents here have been urged not to rush into selling their land as Asajaya is expected to experience rapid development in the coming years, potentially driving up property values.
Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said several major development projects would bring significant economic growth and infrastructure improvements to the area.
He said projects such as the proposed new international airport, road network developments, and the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system would serve as catalysts for growth in southern Sarawak.
“Among the locations expected to benefit from this development are Kampung Beliung, Kampung Moyan, Kampung Tambirat, and several nearby settlements due to their strategic location in relation to the proposed new international airport.
“Do not rush to sell your land. Think about the long-term benefits, as land values in this area are expected to continue rising once these development projects are implemented,” he said.
He said this at the ‘Ngiling Tikai’ programme at the Asajaya District Level 2026 held at the Kampung Moyan Ledang Multipurpose Hall yesterday (Tuesday, June 30).
Abdul Karim, who is also the Asajaya assemblyman, advised landowners to carefully consider their decisions before disposing off their assets, particularly land that is not subject to government acquisition for development purposes.
He also informed residents that various infrastructure projects currently underway and planned for the future are expected to transform Asajaya’s development landscape, thereby increasing property values and creating more economic opportunities for the local community.
At the same time, he encouraged the public to take advantage of the opportunities that will arise from these developments by enhancing their skills, prioritising education, and preparing themselves to participate in economic activities that can improve their standard of living and family wellbeing.
