KUCHING: A symbolic piece of aviation history has found a permanent home at the Sarawak Scouts Headquarters Gallery following the handover of a World War II American F4C Corsair fighter aircraft model by Captain Zainuddin Hamdan on Saturday (Apr 11).
The model, part of Zainuddin’s personal collection for over five decades since graduating from a flying school in Singapore, will now be preserved for public viewing and educational purposes.
Assistant Chief Scout Commissioner, Fong Voon Chon, received the model on behalf of the Sarawak Scouts, witnessed by Chief Scout Commissioner, John Lim Boon Beng, and Assistant Chief Scout Commissioner for Air Scout, Jerome Lim.
The handover ceremony highlighted Zainuddin’s longstanding dedication to scouting and aviation, with the model symbolising his personal journey and commitment to both fields.
The addition of the aircraft model is also seen as a continuation of the Air Scout legacy in Sarawak, serving as an inspiration for younger generations to pursue leadership and service through scouting.
